Vice President JD Vance went on Fox News on November 13, 2025, hoping to talk about the government shutdown and the rough economy. But while he spoke about gas prices, grocery bills, and everything Americans are tired of paying for, many viewers found themselves staring at one thing.
His face. And it was busy having its own moment.
The interview started normally enough. Sean Hannity asked about the rising cost of living. Vance jumped in with energy and said he and President Donald Trump were working to ease the pressure that “68% of Americans” say they feel.
As the camera zoomed in, people noticed the puffiness. A soft, swollen look that reminded viewers of the viral “pillow face” trend, which comes from too many fillers or too much Botox.

As one can imagine, his alarmingly expressionless appearance raised many an eyebrow—though notably not his own. “His face literally isn’t moving. Botox overload,” one X user tweeted. Meanwhile, another quipped, “I knew he vanished for a couple of days to have work done …”
Viewers had more to say. One commenter joked about his hair: “Hair so gelled it looks plastic.” Another found it awkward that he couldn’t laugh along with a joke about Biden: “It was especially awkward when he was joking about Biden croaking and he was unable to move his face to ‘laugh.’ As if he wasn’t ugly enough.” Social media had a field day, mixing shock, humor, and a little bit of political commentary.
This isn’t new for Vance. The MAGA crowd has a long list of plastic surgery jokes, and “Mar a Lago face” is already a nickname floating around online. Some supporters take the teasing lightly. Others pretend not to notice. But either way, Vance has been stuck in this lane before.
Years before Botox rumors took over, he faced a different accusation. People kept saying he wore eyeliner. Every close-up photo of him turned into an investigation. Users circled his eyes, zoomed in, and debated whether the dark outline was makeup, lighting, or his natural look. It became its own mini conspiracy.
Vance never confirmed any of it. Not the eyeliner. Not the fillers. Not the stiff forehead. His team never comments on grooming or cosmetics. They focus only on politics, which is understandable, even if Twitter refuses to cooperate.
