During CNN’s coverage of Tuesday night’s elections, CNN anchor and White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins stood outside the White House, while repeatedly appearing on programming to share that Trump had been “quiet” up until that point, as the Republican losses continued to pile up.

On Wednesday morning, Collins was at the White House when Trump faced the press at a White House breakfast with senators.

“Mr. President, you sound very frustrated by last night’s election,” Collins told Trump. “What are the takeaways from people in this room?”

Trump did not answer, said “thank you very much,” and that appeared to be the end of the exchange.

Trump made other comments later in the day about the election results.

“On November 5, 2024 the American people reclaimed our government. We restored our sovereignty. We lost a little bit of sovereignty last night in New York, but we’ll take care of it. Don’t worry,” Trump said at the America Business Forum in Miami. It’s not clear what he meant by “take care of it.”

There were plenty of surprised comments on social media about both bits of post-election commentary from the president.
