The morning after Donald Trump delivered his 108-minute State of the Union, Karoline Leavitt was already in overdrive.
The 28-year-old White House press secretary flooded X with praise for the president’s address, sharing more than 30 posts in just one hour.
Leavitt reposted glowing headlines, mostly from conservative outlets, framing the speech as packed with victories. She highlighted Fox News calling it a “SOTU packed with wins and warnings.” She amplified CBS anchor Tony Dokoupil describing it as “extraordinary,” noting how it left “Democrats seething.”
President Trump absolutely knocked it out of the park tonight. I am so proud to work for him, and so proud to be an American! 🇺🇸

The rapid-fire posting spree came after a speech that made history as the longest State of the Union on record. At one point, the chamber turned chaotic, with shouting erupting during tense exchanges.
“President Trump made some exciting policy announcements during his historic State of the Union speech that are all very popular with the American people,” she wrote, alongside a stream of reposts from the Official White House Rapid Response account.

Polling painted a more complicated picture.
A CNN survey conducted by SSRS found that reception to the speech was positive, but largely among a Republican-heavy audience. Viewers were about 13% more Republican than the general public.
Even among that friendly crowd, doubts surfaced.
45% of those surveyed said the president did not devote enough attention to the economy or rising living costs, an issue that continues to weigh heavily on voters.
During the address, Trump emphasized lower gasoline prices, mortgage rates, prescription drug costs, and a “roaring economy.” Yet an AP-NORC poll earlier this month showed that only 39% of U.S. adults approved of his handling of the economy.
Several claims from the speech were fact-checked afterward. Data showed real GDP growth in 2025 at 2.2%. Unemployment ticked up slightly. Prices were not “plummeting downward,” but rising.
Immigration became one of the night’s most intense flashpoints.
Roughly 50 minutes in, Trump asked attendees to stand if they agreed that “the first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.” Some Democrats remained seated.
Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, born in Somalia, shouted, “You kill Americans,” referencing deaths involving federal immigration agents. Hours earlier, America’s Roman Catholic bishops had condemned Trump’s immigration policies as “detrimental to human rights.”
