Kathie Lee Gifford, the beloved TV host and singer, recently shared a shocking story from her past. While speaking on The Sage Steele Show, the 71-year-old broke down in tears as she revealed how Donald Trump once saved her and her newborn daughter from a deadly stalker.
The story takes us back 31 years when Gifford was set to host the Miss America pageant in Atlantic City. She had just given birth to her daughter Cassidy and planned to drive to the city with her nanny.
Then, out of nowhere, the FBI called her husband, NFL legend Frank Gifford. The message was chilling.
“Mr. Gifford, we have a problem. There’s this guy. A very, very bad guy,” they told him.
According to the FBI, this man was a psychopathic murderer—a convicted rapist who had tortured his own aunt. Even worse, after committing his crimes, he had stolen his aunt’s keys and declared:

“Now I’m going after Kathie Lee.”
Cue the dramatic music!
The FBI instructed Frank to keep their plans the same so they wouldn’t tip off the suspect. But Frank wasn’t having it. He said he needed to make one phone call.
And who did he call?
Donald Trump.
Without hesitation, Trump responded: “Frank, don’t you worry about it. I’ve got your girls. I’ve got your girls. And don’t you worry.”
Trump immediately arranged for his private helicopter to pick up Kathie Lee, her baby, and her nanny. Also, when she arrived in Atlantic City, she was surrounded by Trump’s top security team. At the time, she had no idea why she was getting the VIP treatment.
She later asked Trump why he had gone out of his way for her.
His response? “because you’ve had a baby.”
Kathie Lee then told Trump. “Donald, women have babies every day. It’s no big deal. Thank you. But it’s no big deal.”
What she didn’t know was that her life was on the line.
She continued preparing for the pageant for a week, oblivious to the danger lurking in the background. Then, on the morning of the big event, she saw a newspaper headline about the suspect coming for her.
Yikes.
Organizers nervously asked if she still wanted to go on stage.
Her response? “Hell no… nobody’s going to make me afraid.”
She faced the cameras in an instant, dazzling as always, while an army of security stood by.
After the pageant, she returned home to Connecticut. While watching a movie with her son, an FBI agent walked up to her and whispered:
“Mrs. Gifford, we got this son of a b****.”
And just like that, it was over.
I’ve never been a fan of Trump, and I’m not about to start now, but I must admit it is a surprising move. It’s a reminder to trust your instincts, value the right connections, and appreciate simple acts of kindness. When Kathie Lee needed help, he stepped in without expecting anything in return, never telling her why. Not exactly what we’ve come to expect from him, but hey, life is full of surprises.
