Kimberly Guilfoyle, the former Fox News anchor, spent several years as the partner of Donald Trump Jr., the oldest son of the president, and they were even engaged for a time. The couple split up at some point during the 2024 presidential campaign, after which Don took up with Bettina Anderson, a South Florida socialite. And once Trump won, Guilfoyle was named U.S. Ambassador to Greece.
Now, Guilfoyle has spoken up about her feelings on the matter in an interview with the New York Times.
The newspaper checked in with the unlikely ambassador to discuss that and other matters, including her diplomatic work in Greece.
She once called Greeks “freeloaders” who should be punished like a dog that “pees on the rug.” Now, Kimberly Guilfoyle is Trump’s ambassador to Greece and she is the talk of Athens. “If she delivers, who cares if she has a see-through dress?” @BumillerNYT https://t.co/cherw0Mj4T

The ambassador, per the Times, “has become the talk of Athens, followed by paparazzi, featured with smoky eyes on the cover of Vogue Greece and much discussed, at least initially, as the woman jilted by the president’s son.” The former Fox News host, who in another life was married to California Gov. Gavin Newsom, is in a position more traditionally held by career diplomats and foreign service officers. She also set off a diplomatic row, when she described Chinese control of a certain port as “unfortunate,” which led the Chinese Embassy in Athens to denounce her for “malicious defamation.”
The Times story also included a quote from longtime Trump adviser Steve Bannon, who denied the notion that Guilfoyle was given the foreign diplomatic posting to get her out of the country at a time when Don Jr. had moved on romantically.
She also defended what was described as her “active social life” in Athens.
“If it brings enthusiasm and interest in America and the economy and commerce and trade and our bilateral relationship, I’m all for that,” the ambassador told the Times.
