Lara Trump’s Fox News show got a promo this week built around a gym session with the Homeland Security Secretary, DHS agents and the Coast Guard.
Markwayne Mullin explained the reasoning behind it plainly. “We need to look intimidating because every single day we’re going to work,” he said. “There’s not a day that we have a rest day. There’s not a day that we have a peace day. Every day from the Coast Guard, ICE, CBP, our mission’s to protect the homeland. There’s always somebody trying to get in.”
Intimidation was not the takeaway online.
Lara worked through push-ups, weighted lifts and a barbell hang clean alongside DHS staff, ICE agents, Border Patrol and Coast Guard members, with Mullin, a former MMA fighter, leading the session himself. He walked away impressed regardless of how the internet felt.

“She stayed in there, didn’t miss a rep, I was impressed,” he said, noting it was her first time attempting what he called the “nine-by-eight” workout. Lara matched his energy in the moment. “I didn’t come to lose,” she said.
She’d already built anticipation for the segment a day earlier on Fox & Friends Weekend. “I met up with Secretary Markwayne Mullin, DHS secretary, and the Coast Guard, Charlie, celebrated their 236th birthday. They deserve a lot of credit for securing our borders, but they also deserve a lot of credit for kicking my butt,” she told co-host Charlie Hurt, adding that Mullin was “whipping everybody into shape at DHS.”
X wasn’t sold on the show of strength.
Very poor pressing technique. These people lack flexibility in their shoulders when pressing – the weight is out front instead of the arms being being behind their ears when the weight is overhead.

What the fuck is wrong with these people? ?Why is anyone supposed to care about their workouts? If this is top of mind for Mullin, he should go get a job in a gym and let someone intelligent and interested run DHS. And Lara can save it for real housewives.

Do these people not see how absolutely cringe this stuff is?

Her form is awful. The weights are too heavy for her. Ridiculous.

Lara addressed the pushback herself on Saturday’s broadcast, brushing off a jab from co-host Brian Kilmeade about Trump himself calling workout content “boring.” Her response doubled as a mission statement for the whole segment. “I’m working out for all the Trumps, so don’t worry about it. We got it going on.”
