According to harrowing reporting from The Las Vegas Review-Journal, award-winning investigative journalist Jeff German was found on Saturday morning, fatally stabbed outside his Nevada home, per local media reporting and police reports on the violent death.
The Review-Journal reports police responded to a 911 call that came in at around 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Upon arrival at the scene, authorities found 69-year-old German dead outside his home with apparent stab wounds. According to police reports, law enforcement officials believe that German found himself in an altercation with another individual just before he was stabbed to death. Authorities have confirmed that they believe the stabbing to be an isolated incident and do not believe that there is a threat of danger posed to the Las Vegas public.
The Associated Press reported on Sunday that law enforcement agents were searching for a suspect in German’s stabbing death.
Executive Editor of The Las Vegas Review-Journal, where German was employed at the time of his death said in an interview regarding the reporter’s untimely passing, “It is shocking and incomprehensible for everyone in our newsroom. It’s a huge blow. Jeff was a beloved, looked-up-to, trusted and incredibly valuable person in our organization. And it goes without saying that we are going to miss him terribly and it’s simply not going to be the same coming back into the newsroom and him not being a part of it.”
Cook went on to claim that in the days and weeks prior to his death, German had not expressed any concerns over his safety or well-being to the leadership team with the publication where he worked.

“It’s our hope that they find this person very quickly so that we can get answers to all the questions that we have as his colleagues and friends, as it relates to the work we all do,” the executive editor added.
German previously served as a longtime columnist and reporter with the Las Vegas Sun and joined Review-Journal in 2010, where he served as an investigative journalist covering organized crime, political corruption, and government failures. Cook said that German’s “bread and butter” was “breaking big stories,” and much of his coverage ultimately led to significant reform.
German had a pointed history of covering right-wing extremist groups, such as the Proud Boys and the Oathkeepers, especially in the aftermath of the January 6th Capitol insurrection. In February of 2021, the award-winning journalist published a deep-dive piece with the headline, “Emerging extremists bring new concerns for law enforcement.”
This has led Americans to speculate over whether the journalist’s death was related to his coverage of violent extremist groups:
This is VERY troubling.

Oh here we go. We’re officially in third world territory, where journalists are attacked for the stories they are working on.
How the hell did we get here, folks?
