Controversial Colorado Republican House Rep. Lauren Boebert’s Hooters-inspired, gun-themed restaurant — where her employees literally pack heat on the clock — may soon see its last day, as new reporting reveals that the new landlord of the building where Boebert and her husband’s eatery is housed has refused to renew their lease.

Boebert personally spoke with The Daily Beast regarding the news and said that she and her husband were surprised when their landlord notified them that the new owner of the building, who purchased the real estate last month, would not be renewing their lease for Shooters. Lauren confirmed to the publication that they will either have to find a new location for the gun-themed restaurant or shutter the business for good.

The Beast reports, “She didn’t explain exactly why her business was being kicked out. A person familiar with the arrangement said the property manager felt he had a ‘moral’ imperative to close the business, and had planned to lease the space to another restaurant.”

Milkin Enterprises now owns the building that currently houses Rep. Boebert’s eatery, according to Colorado business records, and was only formed a mere two days before they purchased the Shooters real estate.

One prominent anti-Boebert group made claims just days after the lease notice was given that Lauren’s restaurant would be shuttered just days before Colorado’s June 28 primary. Lauren told the publication that those claims were untrue, and said she was forced to scramble to ensure her employees of the inaccuracy.

Ultimately, Boebert told The Beast that she and her husband Jayson Boebert are “at peace” with shutting down Shooters after 8 years of business. However, she went on to tell the publication that they are considering just buying the building outright, as the new owner has apparently expressed a willingness to sell.

“He said, ‘If you’re still interested in purchasing, I’m interested in selling,'” Lauren claimed.

Boebert vehemently denies any political motive behind the refusal to renew her lease, but you certainly can’t deny the convenient timing.

At least now, perhaps, her boob jobs won’t cost her employees their paychecks.
