In a heated debate at a private golf course in Roxborough Park, Colorado, Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert faced off against Democratic challenger Trisha Calvarese, and the clash left the incumbent in a tight spot.

Trisha took to Twitter (I’M NOT CALLING IT X!) about the Boebert meltdown.

The debate, marked by poor audio quality and questionable production value, saw Boebert come under fire for her contentious stances and lack of engagement. According to some observers, Boebert’s combative and assertive style, while strong on conservative rhetoric, fell short on substantive policy discussion.

Boebert, already criticized for her performance in the 2022 debate for Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, continued to draw mixed reactions. Her approach in this debate seemed more focused on rallying her base than addressing policy intricacies, leading to a polarized reception. Critics accused her of being heavily partisan and lacking depth, while her supporters praised her unwavering conservative stance.

The debate turned particularly fiery over Boebert’s opposition to the PACT Act, which aimed to extend health coverage to veterans. Boebert’s defense, citing her limited congressional influence, did little to mitigate the backlash, and instead, she diverted attention by attacking Calvarese’s positions.

The two candidates clashed sharply on key issues. Boebert staunchly defended the oil and gas industry and proposed defunding sustainable energy initiatives and the EPA, while Calvarese pushed for bolstering existing legislation and criticized Boebert’s votes against measures benefiting Coloradans, including veterans.

Some of the audio issues were fixed with Trisha explaining in the Tweet that I’m not calling X.

Others chimed in with their comments.

Despite agreeing on some points, such as supporting small businesses and opposing foreign ownership of U.S. farmland, the candidates diverged on their approach to tax cuts and the child tax credit. Boebert advocated for more tax cuts, whereas Calvarese aimed to revise and extend current benefits to better support the middle class. The debate underscored the deep divide between their visions for Colorado’s future and set the stage for a contentious election in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District.
