Opponents of Donald Trump didn’t have much occasion to praise Mike Pence during his four years as vice president, at least until he chose not to support Trump’s plan to overturn the 2020 election on January 6, 2021.

But now, Pence has once again spoken up against his former ticket-mate.

On Wednesday, the former vice president shared a documentary from the Advancing American Freedom Foundation opposing the tariffs.

“The Trump Tariff Tax is the largest peacetime tax hike in U.S. history,” Pence wrote. “These Tariffs are nearly 10x the size of those imposed during the Trump-Pence Administration and will cost American families over $3,500 per year. Check Out “Spoiling America’s Golden Age.”

Some Republicans, who have been trained to never, ever cross Trump the way Pence did, struck back at the former Trump loyalist.

“These tariffs are the definition of America First, which is a concept he doesn’t understand,” Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said on X. MAGA influencer Michael J. Morrison declared, “Dude, we all rejected you. You don’t need to keep proving us right.”

Meanwhile, some Democrats were surprised to find themselves agreeing with Pence.

“How strange is this moment in American history? Well, I’m retweeting Mike Pence,” Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-PA) said on X. MSNBC host and former Democratic political operative Symone Sanders-Townsend, meanwhile, stated that “The broad spectrum of people who are saying this is terrible should not be ignored.”

Also, on Thursday, the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library announced that it would honor… Mike Pence. The former vice president will receive the 2025 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award “for putting his life and career on the line to certify the 2020 election,” Axios reported.

“Political courage is not outdated in the United States. At every level of government, leaders are putting country first, and not backing down,” JFK’s daughter and grandson, Caroline Kennedy and Jack Schlossberg said in a statement.

“I have been inspired by the life and words of President John F. Kennedy since my youth and am honored to join the company of so many distinguished Americans who have received this recognition in the past,” Pence said, per Axios.
