He's already complaining about the people he chose.

It hasn’t even been two weeks since Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election, and he’s already unhappy with at least one of his choices, Treasury Secretary candidate Howard Lutnick. That’s according to Maggie Haberman, who said the president-elect is already looking at new candidates for Treasury Secretary as he grows more frustrated with Lutnick.

New York Times journalist Maggie Haberman reports that President-elect Donald Trump is considering new candidates for Treasury Secretary after souring on his top candidate Howard Lutnick.

Trump has cast his sights on two new potential candidates: Kevin Warsh, former Federal Reserve governor, and Wall Street billionaire Marc Rowan. Trump was expected to pick Lutnick or Scott Bessent, a former money manager for George Soros.

But, according to Haberman, Trump is having “second thoughts” about both candidates and expressing frustration that Lutnick has “been around him too much.” Plus, one source told Haberman that the competition between Lutnick and Bessent has turned into a real “knife fight” as Trump weighs which one to nominate, Mediaite reports.

However, Haberman claims that Trump has had a “second thoughts” about the two candidates while expressing frustration that Lutnick has “been around him too much.” Moreover, a source told Haberman that the battle between Lutnick and Bessent has turned into a real “knife fight” as Trump weighs who to nominate.

According to The New York Times:

“Mr. Lutnick, who has been running Mr. Trump’s transition operation, has gotten on Mr. Trump’s nerves lately. Mr. Trump has privately expressed frustration that Mr. Lutnick has been hanging around him too much and that he has been manipulating the transition process for his own ends. A person familiar with the process, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the battle between Mr. Lutnick and Mr. Bessent as a knife fight, with Mr. Lutnick as the primary aggressor.

Mr. Bessent is said to still be under consideration and has also been raised by people in Mr. Trump’s economic circles as a possible contender to lead the White House’s National Economic Council. Elon Musk, a close adviser to the president-elect, on Sunday called Mr. Bessent a “business-as-usual” choice for Treasury secretary in a post on his social media platform, X, while throwing his support behind Mr. Lutnick.”

There’s a good chance the President-elect will invite Warsh and Rowan to meet at Mar-a-Lago later this week.

Incoming White House press secretary Katherine Leavitt also told The Times in a statement, “The president-elect is making decisions on who will serve in his second administration. Those decisions will continue to be announced by him when they are made.”

I wonder how long it will take for Trump to get annoyed with Elon Musk, who has been with him 24/7 lately in the wake of his presidential win? Maybe these two Treasury candidates are more intelligent than the Tangerine Scream and are asking questions that Trump can’t answer because he’s not intelligent enough to do so.

We all know Trump doesn’t do well around people who are smarter than him.
