The Washington Post now reports that a man was arrested in the early hours of this morning after he was found near the home of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, where he allegedly attempted to assassinate the controversial judge. The US Supreme Court has confirmed this reporting.

According to breaking reporting, the 26-year-old male suspect — who remains unidentified to the public and reportedly has a California driver’s license with a last known residence in Seattle — admitted to law enforcement officials that he wanted to kill Brett Kavanaugh. The Washington Post cited sources familiar with the incident in their report, writing, “The man apparently did not make it on to Kavanaugh’s property in Montgomery County, but he was stopped on a nearby street.”

Spokesperson for the Supreme Court, Patricia McCabe, spoke with the Associated Press and confirmed that the suspect was arrested Wednesday morning, around 1:50 a.m. The AP’s report notes that the 26-year-old male was armed “with a gun and a knife” and also confirmed WaPo’s reporting that the suspect admitted to law enforcement officials that he was there with the intention of killing the Supreme Court justice.

It seems the suspect was motivated in his attempted assassination by his fury over the leaked Supreme Court draft opinion that showed a likely overturning of the landmark Roe v. Wade case, as well as “a recent spate of mass shootings,” according to sources cited by the Post.

Protesters have regularly gathered around the homes of conservative Supreme Court justices including Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett, Chief Justice John Roberts, Neil Gorsuch, and Samuel Alito, who was responsible for penning the controversial Roe. V. Wade draft, in the days and weeks since the bombshell draft was leaked and reported on by Politico.

Many of the justices have since spoken out against the leak and the leaker, with little regard for the American human beings the decision will affect.

As it stands, a decision in the court case that could serve to overturn Roe, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization is set to be finalized either this month or in early July.
