To be honest, we haven’t had a plethora of faith in Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Frankly, Bragg has been wishy-washy, at the very best, and downright useless at his worst. In fact, once he took over the Manhattan DA position following Cyrus Vance Jr., it seemed that the entire long-running investigation into corrupt former President Donald Trump all bet fell apart — so much so, even, that many of his lead investigators abandoned the case altogether, citing Bragg’s lack of action, despite the resounding evidence against Trump that’s been collected thus far.
But a new development now has us wondering if we wrote off Alvin Bragg a bit too soon. Perhaps we underestimated the DA when he’s really just been laying in wait for the perfect time to pounce on corrupt, disgraced Donald Trump.
The Daily Beast broke a new report this week, titled, Is Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg Finally Ready To Indict Trump?
It’s a loaded question, to say the least, and one that a good majority of the American people have been waiting in frustration for an answer to. But, if their analysis is correct, it’s one we may soon, finally get a satisfactory answer to.

The publication notes that the recent conviction of the ex-president’s personal family company, the Trump Organization, as well as the company’s longtime chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg has allowed the world a glimpse into extensive evidence that certainly seems to implicate former president Donald Trump in a long-running, highly-corrupt tax scheme. Most notable among that evidence was a memo that approved a request made by chief operating officer Matthew Calamari to reduce his taxed salary in an effort to offset the cost of his untaxed corporate apartment. That damning memo featured Donald Trump’s infamous, unmistakable signature.
Last week, the Trump Organization was officially ordered to pay $1.6 million in penalties for tax fraud. The fine itself was frankly a complete joke. A slap in the face to the American people who follow the rules and pay their taxes, as less than $2m is quite literally a drop in the bucket for Trump and his company. But it seems that the fine isn’t what the former president should actually be concerned about.
Following the ruling on the fine against the Trump Organization, Alvin Bragg made this short but pointed announcement: “We now move on to the next chapter.”
Of course, there is no way to say with 100% certainty what Bragg specifically meant by the “next chapter.” In fact, he declined to elaborate when pressed for the meaning of his statement. However, it’s pretty easy to deduce, considering Trump himself admitted under oath to personally overseeing Calimari’s compensation and prosecutors have troves of evidence with Trump’s John Hancock all over them.
Former prosecutors from the Manhattan DA office are in agreeance that this was a signal from Bragg that prosecutors are preparing to come after Donald Trump.
One former assistant district attorney who investigated financial fraud, Catherine A. Christian, said, “For people who want a certain outcome — to go after Trump — it gives hope. They’re going to be thorough. I’m doubtful he would have said ‘next chapter’ if they weren’t looking.”
“It happens all the time with large, complex investigations,” she added.
