During one of the inaugural balls on Monday night, Vice President J.D. Vance shared a dance with Staff Sgt. Lexus Martinez, a Marine who works as a food service specialist with the Marine Corps Enlisted Aide Program, at the Commander-in-Chief Ball.

According to the New York Post, each brand of the Armed Forces picks a member to dance with the president, vice president, First Lady, and Second Lady.

Martinez was part of the team chosen to pick people to dance with the new vice president — and like like another vice president, Dick Cheney, she applied for the honor herself and ended up being chosen.

President Trump and Vice President JD Vance walked by, and they just wanted to shake our hands, thank us for our service, and to get facial recognition of who they were dancing with,” Martinez said, also sharing that Vance made a joke to “break the ice.”

‘Well, I hope you don’t step on my feet,” Vance said, according to Martinez. “And I said, ‘Well, I hope you teach me how to dance up there.'”

The Daily Mail called it a “dad joke.”

“Him acknowledging me as a Marine and just like joking with me in that way. It felt cool to just be myself because, in the Marines, we’re all family no matter what. You’re a Marine 24/7.”

Vance, a combat correspondent in the Marines, is the first Marine to serve as vice president.

So, what else is on tap for the new vice president? It may include that famous vice presidential power of breaking a tie in the Senate. According to Fox News, Vance may be needed to break a tie on nominations such as that of Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth or CIA director John Radcliffe. Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) announced Thursday that she will vote against Hegseth, therefore becoming the first Republican Senator to come out against the ex-Fox News host, or for that matter, any other Trump nominee.

Tulsi Gabbard’s nomination, meanwhile, is also said to be in some possible peril.

Marco Rubio, the new Secretary of State and a former Senator, was confirmed unanimously.
