Marjorie Taylor Greene Brags About Drinking Raw Milk—And People Are Completely Grossed Out

This is not safe

Did you know that drinking raw milk can actually make you very sick? It might sound surprising, but that’s exactly why raw milk is illegal in many places. But recently, Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican politician, tweeted, “Raw milk does a body good. Make America Healthy Again!”

While it may sound harmless, promoting raw milk is dangerous—and here’s why. Raw milk is milk that hasn’t been pasteurized. Pasteurization is the process of heating milk to kill harmful bacteria. Without this process, raw milk can carry dangerous germs like E. coli, Salmonella, and Listeria. These germs can cause serious illnesses, and sometimes even lead to hospitalization or death. In fact, between 1993 and 2012, there were 127 outbreaks of diseases linked to raw milk. This led to nearly 2,000 people getting sick, and over 140 of them needed to go to the hospital.

It’s strange to see a politician promoting something that can make people sick. But this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Republicans ignore facts. For example, in the past, some Republican leaders like Jesse Helms and Mitch McConnell supported cigarette companies, even when doctors warned people that smoking was dangerous. Helms, a senator from North Carolina, defended the tobacco industry for years, despite clear evidence that smoking causes cancer. McConnell, also from a big tobacco state, fought against raising cigarette taxes that could have helped reduce smoking. They kept defending cigarettes, even though smoking causes many serious diseases like lung cancer.

Now, we’re seeing the same thing with raw milk. Instead of listening to experts and keeping people safe, some Republican leaders are turning it into a political issue. One Twitter user, @RightWingCope, joked, “What’s next, is MAGA going to stop washing their hands after touching raw chicken to make liberals mad?” This comment is funny, but it shows how strange it is to make health and safety into a political argument.

Another Twitter user, @MrsButters, highlighted the risks perfectly: “Raw milk contains bacteria that can cause life-threatening diseases like Guillain-Barré syndrome, kidney failure, and paralysis. Drink up, Marge!” These aren’t minor illnesses; they can change your life or even end it. @Rango, added: “Raw milk is dangerous, and MTG is dangerously stupid.” While this might sound harsh, it reflects the frustration many feel when elected leaders push ideas that put people’s health at risk. Even @DANNYonPC chimed in, asking, “Why are you so weird?” It’s hard not to feel baffled when politicians ignore clear health warnings.

Raw milk might seem like a natural and healthy choice, but it has serious risks. Drinking it can expose you to harmful bacteria. When politicians like Marjorie Taylor Greene support raw milk, they aren’t just making a casual suggestion—they are ignoring important facts and putting lives in danger. So, the next time someone says, “Raw milk does a body good,” keep this in mind: pasteurized milk is safer, healthier, and the best choice for you. Stay smart and trust the science!
