Recently, former Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene shook up the political scene by openly criticizing President Donald Trump and the MAGA movement she once supported.
In a fiery interview with political commentator Kim Iversen, Greene made a claim few expected. She called the core of MAGA, the movement that rallied Trump’s base, a complete lie.
“MAGA is — I think people are realizing it was all a lie. It was a big lie for the people,” Greene said in the interview.
Just months ago, Greene was a top Trump ally, cheering him on from the House floor and backing his election and culture war fights. Now, she says MAGA has lost sight of the voters who built it.

She accused Trump of putting wealthy donors and powerful interests above everyday Americans. “Those are the people that get the special favors, the government contracts, they get the pardons,” she said.
Her critique did not stop there. She said the president has moved away from what she calls a focus on Americans and instead toward foreign issues. “I’m sorry, we’ve got civil war practically breaking out in Minnesota, can we not care about that?” she asked.
Greene also issued some of her harshest comments on foreign policy. She accused Trump of being fixated on the conflict in the Middle East, especially support for Israel, while ignoring what she described as millions of innocent people in Gaza suffering. “We’re seeing war on behalf of Israel,” Greene said. “We’re seeing the people in Gaza — innocent people … completely murdered.”
The language was intense and unexpected, coming from someone once so closely aligned with Trump’s ideological wing. Greene said she believes MAGA has been taken over by forces that do not represent the everyday people who once supported it.
Her break with Trump did not happen overnight. Months ago, reports showed that her relationship with the president had been deteriorating for some time. Trump publicly branded her a “traitor,” and their feud became personal. Greene claimed she received threats to her family after Trump’s attacks.
Greene has also protested other moves by the Trump administration, such as its stance on the release of files tied to Jeffrey Epstein and how the U.S. engages in foreign conflicts. Her critics on the right were quick to respond. MAGA influencer Laura Loomer attacked her, calling her a traitor and accusing her of hypocrisy.
