She finally spoke her mind openly

Marjorie Taylor Greene says she will step down from Congress at the start of 2026.

Her announcement surprised many people, but she says the choice is final. Greene made the news public in a long statement and a ten-minute video where she explained why she is leaving.

She said the job has become too stressful and too ugly. Greene said Washington feels “disgusting,” and that she is tired of the daily fighting, the pressure, and the death threats she says she gets all the time. She also said she wants more time with her family and less time dealing with politics.

Her resignation is big news on its own, but it hits even harder because it comes right after her split with Donald Trump. For years, Greene stood by Trump no matter what. She defended him in interviews, rallies, and social media posts. Now she says he has become “hateful,” and she believes he turned on her without reason.

The Daily Mail reported that the White House was asked for a comment, but there has been no response yet.

Greene also took aim at Republicans as she walked away. She said her party has failed to use its power even though it controls the presidency and both chambers of Congress. In her words, “Almost one year into our majority, the legislature has been mostly sidelined, we endured an eight week shutdown wrongly resulting in the House not working for the entire time, and we are entering campaign season which means all courage leaves and only safe campaign re-election mode is turned on.”

Her message made it clear she is frustrated with both Trump and the party as a whole. And the timing of her exit comes right after a rough and very public fight with Trump on social media.

Trump mocked her in more than one post. On Truth Social, he called her “Marjorie Taylor Brown” and wrote, “Green grass turns Brown when it begins to ROT!” In another message, he called her “Marjorie Traitor Greene” and said she “betrayed the entire Republican Party when she turned Left.”

Greene pushed back by sharing her own screenshots. One showed a message she sent Trump about the Epstein files. Trump responded by saying he had warned her not to run for Senate in 2026. Greene wrote to him, “In every single interview I have done I have defended President Trump.”

She added, “I’ve said over and over the women say he did nothing wrong and their attorney says he’s the only one who helped. And the Democrats had 4 years to release the files but did nothing.”

Another screenshot showed her replying to someone labeled “NH,” believed to be Natalie Harp, one of Trump’s aides. The person wrote about the “THE JEFFREY EPSTEIN HOAX.” Greene answered, “Stop ignoring the women. Many of them literally voted for President Trump and say so publicly. Them being raped as teenagers is not a hoax.”
