There are the makings of a civil war among the MAGA community over the possibility that Donald Trump might decide to join in Israel’s attack on Iran. On one side are those seeking to crush Iran, and perhaps even eliminate the current regime, while on the other are those of a more isolationist bent, who have praised Trump for not getting into any new wars in his first term.

Among the latter group are Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), as well as her boyfriend Brian Glenn, who is White House correspondent for Real America’s Voice.

According to The Daily Beast, the topic came up during Trump’s press conference on Wednesday, where he introduced new flagpoles at the White House. After a CNN reporter asked about the mixed feelings in the MAGA base about the possibility of an Iran attack, Trump answered, “Do you ever ask a positive question at CNN? My supporters are more in love with me today, and I’m in love with them.”

Then, Glenn stepped in.

“I think what she might be alluding to is, the base is going to stay with you regardless, but some of the people in the base don’t want a long-term war,” the Real America’s Voice reporter said. “They’re afraid that we’re going to get into a long-term war.”

Trump’s response?

“I only want one thing: Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. That’s it. I’m not looking long-term, short-term,” Trump stated. “So I may have some people that are a little bit unhappy now, but I have some people that are very happy, and I have people outside of the base that can’t believe that this is happening—they’re so happy.”

Greene had echoed her boyfriend’s sentiment in an X post on June 15.

“We are sick and tired of foreign wars. All of them. And this one will quickly engulf the Middle East, BRICS, and NATO as countries are required to take a side,” Greene said in that post.
