Medical Analyst Calls For Bipartisan Probe Into Trump’s Mental Fitness After Bizarre Letter To Norway’s Prime Minister

Recently, a prominent cardiologist who once served as doctor to the late Vice President Dick Cheney spoke out about President Donald Trump. Dr. Jonathan Reiner, now a medical analyst for CNN, said Congress should check whether Trump is fit to lead the country.

Reiner’s warning came after Trump sent a letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

In the letter, Trump linked his push to take control of Greenland to not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. “Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America,” Trump wrote. He also asked that the letter be shared with other European nations, including Denmark.

Reiner reacted on X, the social media platform. “This letter, and the fact that the president directed that it be distributed to other European countries, should trigger a bipartisan congressional inquiry into presidential fitness,” he said.

Trump’s plan to take Greenland, a semi-independent Arctic territory under Denmark, has worried both U.S. leaders and European allies.

Other politicians joined Reiner in warning about Trump. Representative Yassamin Ansari wrote on X: “The president of the United States is extremely mentally ill and it’s putting all of our lives at risk. The 25th Amendment exists for a reason—we need to invoke it immediately.” She shared the letter to Støre with her warning.

Reiner has also questioned Trump’s daily health habits. Last month, he criticized the president’s high-dose aspirin routine, saying it makes no medical sense. He also noted that Trump sometimes seems very sleepy during the day.

“The president seems to be struggling with excessive daytime sleepiness,” Reiner said. “Repeatedly falling asleep with many people around your desk is not normal. It needs to be checked.”

The doctor also spoke about Trump’s speeches. On CNN, he said the December 17 White House address “was delivered with a manic cadence, almost a frantic cadence… And that kind of manic delivery was very, very disturbing.”

Reiner explained that Trump’s mix of fast talking and daytime sleepiness worries experts. “It is strange to see the president go from almost asleep in the Oval Office to speaking very fast for 30 minutes,” he added.

Trump has dismissed the concerns. Earlier this month, he wrote on Truth Social that he is in “perfect health” and has “aced” a cognitive exam three years in a row.
