Recently, Donald Trump blasted the Super Bowl halftime show, calling the performer “terrible” and saying it did not represent American greatness.

“I’m anti-them. I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible,” he said before the event.

Afterward, he doubled down on Truth Social: “The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER! It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence.”

The performer he was attacking was Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, who delivered his halftime show entirely in Spanish.

Then came an unexpected twist.

First Lady Melania Trump marked a major milestone as her 2024 inaugural gown entered the National Museum of American History. The dress joins the First Ladies Collection at the Smithsonian Institution, alongside the gown she donated after the 2017 inauguration.

Donating inaugural gowns is customary. The soundtrack choice was not.

Melania’s Instagram post featuring the black and white gown was set to “DTMF” by Bad Bunny. Given her husband’s recent comments, followers immediately took notice.

Her caption read: “This black and white masterpiece showcases America’s pure spirit of originality, superior engineering, and boundless creativity.”

The comment section lit up. One user wrote, “The audacity to use this song.” Another added, “I think ur husband doesn’t like his songs.” A third said, “I thought my phone was broken when I heard this song come up on this post!”

Others piled on, including boldiva, who asked, “Using a Bad Bunny song after all the uproar from MAGA? Or are you being facetious? I can never tell with y’all.” myflower_named911 added, “This Administration is Very Strange,” while chris_k wrote, “Tell me you don’t like your husband without telling me you don’t like your husband.”

The halftime show had already stirred backlash in conservative circles. Turning Point USA organized an alternative event featuring Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth voiced support, saying: “From the War Department, we salute Turning Point USA and every American who still believes freedom is worth defending. Thank you for your courage as an organization, your clarity and your leadership, and for this Halftime Show that the War Department is proud to support.”

While the political storm swirled, Melania kept the focus on fashion.

Speaking about the gown, designed by Hervé Pierre, she said: “This is not a dress. This is more than 50 years of education, experience and wisdom realized with each thread, each stitch, each sharp edge.”

She added: “This dress speaks with a distinct point of view, a modern silhouette. Bold and dignified and ruthlessly chic.”

The strapless off white silk crepe column with black silk bands will be displayed near a recreation of the 1955 Harry Winston brooch she wore as a choker. Melania noted, “The minimal black neckpiece framed the radiant floral diamond cluster, creating harmony with my overall look.”
