Michael Wolff is a veteran New York journalist who, in the last decade, has written a long series of books about Donald Trump, several of which have uncovered damning details about the president. Wolff also, in 2017, sat for a series of interviews with Jeffrey Epstein, and he has frequently reported embarrassing details about Trump and Epstein’s relationship.

And now, Wolff has announced that he is suing First Lady Melania Trump, after Melania had threatened to sue him.

Wolff, per The Daily Beast — where he hosts a podcast – is “accusing the First Lady of launching an assault on his free speech and trying to stifle ‘legitimate inquiry’ into Jeffrey Epstein.”

“The case is the first time Melania Trump has been sued as First Lady and appears to be the first time a president’s wife has been the subject of court action. Wolff is asking the court for permission to question Melania and Donald Trump under oath about their dealings with Epstein,” The Daily Beast said.

The suit was filed in the New York Supreme Court under the state’s anti-SLAPP (strategic lawsuits against public participation) law.

Per Courthouse News Service, Wolff is currently working on a book called “The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump (Redux).” Wolff claims that Melania’s lawyers threatened to sue him for over $1 billion, and demanding an apology, for “suggesting online that she is playing a behind-the-scenes role in the Trump administration’s messy handling of the Epstein files.”
“Mrs. Trump and her ‘unitary executive’ husband along with their MAGA myrmidons have made a practice of threatening those who speak against them with costly SLAPP actions in order to silence their speech, to intimidate their critics generally, and to extract unjustified payments and North Korean style confessions and apologies,” Wolff said in the lawsuit. He added something else about his motivations:
“To be perfectly honest, I’d like nothing better than to get Donald Trump and Melania Trump under oath in front of a court reporter, and actually find out all of the details of their relationship with Epstein,” the author said.
