Last December, Melania visited Children’s National Hospital and read a Christmas book to sick kids, during which she appeared to struggle with several words, including the word Christmas itself. Critics called that reading “completely devoid of emotion.”

Fast forward a few months, and Sunday served up a sequel nobody asked for. The First Lady was in the Rose Garden for the White House Easter Egg Roll, reading a children’s book to kids gathered for the holiday festivities.

Within hours, a clip from the Rose Garden Reading Nook went viral on X, and the internet had opinions.

Users mocked her stumbling over words, questioning if the kids even knew what she was saying.

Melania claims she speaks five languages. Fact-checkers aren’t buying it. In 2017, during a Vatican visit, Pope Francis asked her in Italian what she feeds her husband. She paused. A translator stepped in.

Trump jumped in mid-event. He told the crowd she’s a movie star, pointing to her 2026 documentary. He called it “the biggest movie ever made.” Everyone quickly pointed out it holds a 10% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and 1.6 on IMDb. Not exactly Oscar material. But hey, the internet loved it anyway.

Melania ranks as the least popular first lady in modern history. In December 2025, just 36% of Americans viewed her favorably, while 43% actively disapproved. With so few public appearances, every outing turns into a brutal spotlight.

The Easter Egg Roll celebrated America’s 250th birthday with egg hunts, mini golf, cookie decorating, and even lunar exploration on the South Lawn. Trump greeted families, told kids they could sell his autograph for $25,000 on eBay, and answered questions about Iran while an Easter bunny stood silently.
