Memphis City Council Reportedly Wants Nothing To Do With Trump Campaign Rally Scheduled In Their City Because They Don’t Believe He’ll Pay His Bills

Washed-up, one-term, twice-impeached former President Donald Trump is slated to hold one of his MAGA-turned-Save-America rallies in Memphis. However, the city’s police have already made it crystal clear that they don’t want a damn thing to do with the event because Donald Trump is notorious for never paying his bills.

Action News 5 reports that the Trump campaign has managed to rack up a mountain of bills in security expenses for past events that they unsurprisingly never paid. As it stands, Trump and his people still owe the city of El Paso a staggering $570,000 in unpaid bills. As a matter of fact, the disgraced ex-president owed a mind-boggling $2 million-plus in various unpaid security bills as of July 2020 from Pennsylvania clear to New Mexico.

The Memphis Police Department reportedly hasn’t yet been contacted in regard to security for Trump’s forthcoming event, but Memphis City Councilman Martavius Jones has already said that he does not want to see the Memphis Police being forced to give up their time, manpower, and costs essentially for free.

“He’s notorious for not paying,” said Jones, “When you talk about these rallies, there are huge expenses that various jurisdictions have to pay, and these expenditures are not being reimbursed by the Trump campaign or Trump organization.”

In an effort to get ahead of the issue, Councilman Jones and Councilman JB Smiley Jr. plan to introduce a resolution to the council next week that would call on the Memphis Police to stay far away from the Trump rally.

“He’s no longer the president. He has a Secret Service detail, I think that’s sufficient,” Smiley said.

Trump’s campaign spokesperson for the American Freedom Tour already has his feelings hurt over the ordeal, calling the council’s decisions “mean-spirited, partisan, preposterous and penurious.”

“Perhaps, the Memphis City Council should consult with the good members of the Memphis Police Department about withholding security for President Donald J. Trump, the 45th President of the United States. I am not sure they would agree with the proposal, as protecting presidents is and has always been an unambiguous national security priority,” he whined.

Public Information Officer Major Karen Rudolph said they would be willing to assist, but only if federal partners asked them for help — meaning the Secret Service would have to request the assistance.

“When asked if the American Freedom Tour paid in advance or had outstanding bills, Landers Center Executive Director Todd Mastry replied, ‘The American Freedom Tour is in compliance with the contract,'” the report reads.
