Now would be a really good time for the Trump administration to be transparent and forthcoming after the World Health Organization (WHO) labeled the deadly coronavirus outbreak as a pandemic on Wednesday.
“WHO has been assessing this outbreak around the clock and we are deeply concerned both by the alarming levels of spread and severity and by the alarming levels of inaction,” said the organization’s Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. “We have, therefore, made the assessment that Covid-19 can be characterized as a pandemic.”
So far — and the number seems to be increasing daily — there are 1,050 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in the U.S., and more than 118,000 cases in 114 countries. 4,291 people have died from COVID-19.
So, what does the Trump administration do? Apparently, the meeting with hospital executives is now closed off to the press.

Officials in other countries are being honest with their citizens, such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who warned today that up to 70 percent of the country’s population — some 58 million people — could contract the coronavirus. Here in the U.S., the health care system is already overwhelmed and there isn’t enough testing available.
The U.S. is woefully unprepared for the coronavirus with an inept president who spreads disinformation because he thinks the outbreak will harm his chances of being reelected, as the stock market continues to plummet again today. Meanwhile, Senator Bernie Sanders and former Vice President Joe Biden have canceled rallies while Trump seems to be deadset on holding his events, despite warnings from Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top infectious disease expert in the federal government, who said to avoid large gatherings.
We’ve all read about the infected individual who came in contact with quite a few attendees at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), some of whom shook hands with Donald Trump. The president doesn’t seem to be taking the pandemic seriously while his administration blocks out the press from a major meeting. It’s almost as if this administration doesn’t give a shit, even about his own supporters.
But, enjoy those MAGA rallies, which we shall refer to as giant Petri dishes.
