We’ve all heard by now that Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell fell early Tuesday and banged himself up a good one. Bad enough, in fact, that he needed medical treatment, The Hill reports. He was on hand for a Republican lunch when he tripped, according to a spokesperson.
“He sustained a minor cut to the face and sprained his wrist. He has been cleared to resume his schedule,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
Later that day, the 82-year-old Senator from Kentucky was seen at the Capitol wearing a brace on one wrist and a bandage on his face. Reporters asked how he was feeling and he responded “Good.”
He may feel “good” but he looks awful. And people on social media noticed.

WileE may have more of a point than many of us realize.
As noted by ABCNews, McConnell fell in March 2023 at a hotel in Washington and sustained serious injuries that resulted in a prolonged absence from the Senate. The extent of his injuries was serious enough that he was hospitalized and received outpatient rehabilitation that kept him out of the Senate for six weeks.
Then there were the two episodes last year in which he seemed to freeze in front of TV cameras, although the Capitol Hill physician later cleared him to work.
But on Tuesday, McConnell was seen earlier walking back to his Capitol office, trailed by a medical team and escorted by Senate Republican Conference Chair John Barrasso (R-Wyo.). Barrasso hosted the lunch meeting.
John Thune (R-S.D.), Senate Republican Whip, led the Tuesday GOP leadership press conference in McConnell’s absence and said he appeared to be stable after the fall.
“He is fine. He is in his office,” Thune told reporters, referring further questions to McConnell’s staff. Talking to another senator, he said that McConnell had fallen after the lunch, just before his weekly press conference. According to The Hill, a rush of his staffers raced from their office towards the luncheon area after McConnell. A medical team carrying a wheelchair was also seen following the Kentucky Senator to his office.
McConnell spoke during the lunch and most members seemed to be unaware of his situation as they exited. McConnell, however, was in his office later that day, a spokesman said.
I’m no fan of McConnell, but I’m glad he had a medical team to help him. I took a horrifying fall three weeks ago and had to patch my own self up. But then I’m not busy repressing poor people or doing things like passing a $1.5 trillion tax cut and then blaming the aforementioned poor people, Medicare, and Social Security for the debt tsunami, as Vanity Fair reminds us.
I think we can safely say it’s time for McConnell to retire. He’s out of touch with what people really need, and frankly, he doesn’t care. And folks on social media know this only too well.
Mitch wasn't riding a bike, no sandbags to trip him. Did his legs fail him? Froze again? Witnesses? Pics? Guess you gotta be "Biden's old" for the press to be interested.

Am I sorry he fell again and was injured? No and I don’t feel guilty about saying that. The man is pure evil and eventually karma catches up with pure evil. It takes her a while but she gets there.
