MTG And Tucker Carlson Launch A New ‘Movement’ Alongside Top MAGA Renegades

The rebellion takes shape

This weekend, four people who once counted among Trump’s most loyal allies sat down together for a photo.

Marjorie Taylor Greene posted the picture Saturday: herself and new husband Brian Glenn seated alongside Tucker Carlson, Rep. Thomas Massie and former National Counterterrorism Center director Joe Kent. “We said no more foreign wars and we meant it and supported Donald Trump because he made that promise,” she wrote. “But he’s betrayed us all. Our commitment is America First for all Americans, right, left, and center.” She ended it with: “The movement has begun.”

Every person at that table has their own falling-out story, and all four trace back to Iran.

Kent resigned his post as counterterrorism chief in protest, writing at the time: “I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.”

Carlson has spent months signaling the same exit, telling the Columbia Journalism Review in July, “There’s going to be a third party, and I’m going to do everything I can to bring that about,” after identifying the June 2025 strikes on Iran as the point things broke for him, calling them “the first salvo in a regime-change effort led by Israel.”

Greene had already floated the same idea to Piers Morgan back on June 30. “I think there’s a group of us that if we decide to align, we could launch a true America-focused party that doesn’t fall into the traps of Democrats or Republicans, but could align some serious players from the right and the left,” she said.

Back in March, she’d gone as far as picking a favorite for 2028 over her own former president, posting: “Tucker would beat Trump if he ran for President and Trump tried to violate the constitution and tried to run again for a third term.”

For two of them, the split started before Iran even entered the picture.

Greene and Massie had already broken with Trump over his handling of the Epstein files, both voting to force the Justice Department’s hand on releasing them. Greene left Congress entirely in January, saying she wouldn’t “endure a hurtful and hateful primary” after Trump came after her publicly.

Massie lost his own primary in May to a Trump-endorsed opponent, Ed Gallrein, and his term runs out in January. He was also among the Republicans who crossed the aisle in late July to help pass a 214-208 war powers resolution aimed at limiting Trump’s authority to continue the Iran war.

Trump’s response to all of it has been about what you’d expect.

He’s called Greene a “traitor,” Kent a “SLEAZEBAG,” Carlson a “Low IQ person,” and Massie “Weak and Pathetic,” while continuing to defend the war itself as necessary to stop Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, regardless of the mounting casualties on both sides.
