Over the past few weeks, Marjorie Taylor Greene has been locked in a loud and messy fight with Donald Trump.
The two were once perfectly aligned, but their relationship fell apart fast. They clashed over healthcare, the Epstein files, and several policy issues. Then Trump pulled his endorsement and began attacking her publicly, calling her names and questioning her loyalty.
That tension set the stage for Greene’s surprise announcement that she is leaving Congress. Her 10-minute resignation video raised questions and a whole lot of online noise.
Almost immediately, her oldest daughter stepped forward to calm things down.
Lauren Greene Sanders, 27, posted a short message praising her mother and calling her “one of a kind.” She said she would “forever be so proud” and repeated her mother’s well-known line: “110% on America First, American Only.”
One of a kind Congresswoman. Forever will be so proud of my mom @mtgreenee ❤️

It was clear she wanted the public to know her mom still had support at home, no matter what the political world was saying.
But Sanders didn’t stop there. She quickly addressed rumors, starting with one that Greene was planning a 2028 presidential run, calling it “a lie.”

When someone teased her for ruining their hopes, Sanders replied, “It’s better to live knowing the truth.”
Another rumor suggested Greene timed her resignation to secure a lifetime pension. Sanders corrected that quickly. She explained that her mother pays into her pension every month and that whatever she receives is money she contributed herself. She added that critics should “get it right” before accusing her mother of trying to cash out.
Actually she pays into her pension every month from her paycheck meaning the pension that she will get is money she paid in.
If you’re going to spitfire, at least get it right.

In her resignation video, Greene said the nonstop personal attacks over the years had worn down her family. She said her children had endured pressure and hostility they never asked for. She called the attacks “unfair and wrong” and said she could no longer ignore how deeply they affected her loved ones.
Sanders has always been the Greene child most willing to speak publicly. She often posts photos with her mother and calls her a best friend. So when the resignation rumors began spinning out of control, she stepped in. Later that night, she posted a picture of the movie The Patriot playing on her screen. The film is about a parent trying to protect his children during a violent time.
Greene’s last day in office will be January 5, 2026. After her announcement, Trump posted a short message thanking her for her service, but he could not resist adding that she resigned because she “knew she wouldn’t win.” He also called her “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown,” proving the breakup is still very public.
