A shooting near the White House has left multiple National Guard soldiers injured and triggered a security lockdown at the president’s residence.

According to early reports, three people were shot on a street just steps from the White House, and authorities say the suspect may still be at large.

The National Guard has maintained a strong presence in the capital since early August as part of measures tied to President Donald Trump’s crime crackdown. This incident highlights ongoing security concerns in central Washington, even with heavily armed troops stationed nearby.

Emergency responders, including Secret Service officers, local police, and paramedics, rushed to the scene to secure the area and treat the wounded. Ambulances were seen transporting victims to nearby hospitals.

The DC Police Department confirmed the shooting. “Critical Incident: MPD is on the scene of a shooting at 17th and I Street, NW. Please avoid the area. Updates to come,” they posted on X.

This is a developing story, and more details will follow.
