Strange but predictable

A photo of President Donald Trump sitting between Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is going viral online. Some social media users claim the picture shows Trump with “devil horns.”

The image was taken on October 9 during a cabinet meeting in the Cabinet Room of the White House in Washington, DC. Photographer Jim Watson captured the moment for AFP.

At first glance, the photo looks strange. A wall carving behind Trump and the lighting make it appear as if tiny horns are sprouting from his head. But it is just an illusion. Trump was not wearing or growing horns.

The Devil has been shown with horns since the Middle Ages, which made the comparison easy for some online users.

Unsurprisingly, people on social media had fun. Memes spread quickly, and some joked that the photo confirmed what they already suspected about Trump.

The cabinet meeting itself had nothing to do with horns. Trump focused on a diplomatic achievement. He celebrated the Israel-Hamas peace deal.

“Something that people said was never going to be done,” Trump said. He added the agreement could lead to an “everlasting peace.”

“Everything came together,” he said, calling himself a master dealmaker. Trump often references his real estate success in New York when talking about deals.

He also mentioned plans to travel to the Middle East over the weekend. Trump said he could attend a signing ceremony in Egypt, a key player in the negotiations, and speak to the Knesset in Israel.
