Donald Trump’s polls, in recent weeks, haven’t been quite as bad as they were in April, with the chaos wrought by the president’s ever-moving tariffs leading to significant stock market volatility and falling polling numbers. As of Wednesday, the RealClearPolling average has Trump slightly underwater, with an average disapproval rating of 49.9% and an approval rating of 47.3%.
While Trump has been negative in the RCP average since early March, his disapproval rating reached a high of 52.4% in late April but has since improved for the president.
However, one particularly negative poll for the president arrived on Wednesday from Quinnipiac University. Harry Enten of CNN called it “definitely one of Trump’s worst polls.”
This is definitely one of Trump’s worst polls. Just horrible across the board. Net approval -16 pts. Oof. Opposition to the Big, Beautiful Bill. Just bad stuff all around. https://t.co/0GD6eaDlf6

The poll shows that just 38 percent of voters approve of “the way Donald Trump is handling his job as president,” while 54 percent disapprove. This is worse than the previous version of the poll, the month before, and much worse than the average from RCP.
Quinnipiac also found that the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” Trump’s all-encompassing legislative agenda, is highly unpopular. Voters polled oppose the legislation by 53-27, with 20 percent of voters having no opinion.
Especially unpopular is that the bill would cut Medicaid funding.

“Nearly half of voters (47 percent) think federal funding for Medicaid should increase, 40 percent think it should stay about the same, and 10 percent think federal funding for Medicaid should decrease,” the Quinnipiac release said.
“With Medicaid’s future as a healthcare safety net for millions suddenly uncertain, voters make it clear they want the 60-year-old program for those in need to be handled with care,” Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Tim Malloy said in the release.
The “Big Beautiful Bill” has passed the House of Representatives, although that version seems unlikely to get through the U.S. Senate. Trump has set a goal of passing the legislation before July 4.
On issue polling, voters were surveyed about seven different issues, and Trump was underwater on all seven, including immigration, which has traditionally been the president’s strongest issue in most polling. He is also negative about his handling of deportations, the economy, trade, universities, the Israel-Hamas conflict, and the Russia-Ukraine war.
“As the Russia – Ukraine war grinds through its third year, Americans make it clear they have little appetite for the way the Trump administration is handling the situation,” Malloy added.
