Donald Trump supporters support Donald Trump.

That’s been a truth in politics for the last decade, and it’s the conclusion of a CNN polling presentation by Harry Enten this week.

Citing an NBC News poll during his CNN appearance, Enten stated that Trump has 100 percent approval and zero percent disapproval among “MAGA GOP” voters.

The poll, however, might be an example of circular reasoning: Anyone who considers themselves a “MAGA GOP” voter, by definition, is a supporter of Trump, and if they no longer consider themselves part of the MAGA cohort, they would no longer support Trump. It would be truly remarkable if Trump had 100 percent support among Republicans, or even among those who voted for Trump in 2024, but that’s not what the survey shows.

Enten added that, according to NBC News, while 28 percent of Republicans “identified as MAGA” in November 2024, the number is now 30 percent.

Also citing NBC News, Enten said on CNN that among MAGA GOP voters, 90 percent approve of the military action in Iran, while 5 percent disapprove. Among non-MAGA GOP, 54 percent approve, and 36 percent disapprove.

In recent months, there have been some high-profile defections against Trump, with Joe Kent, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, resigning earlier this week over the Iran war. He joins the likes of former Fox News host Tucker Carlson and former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, both of whom are sometime Trump loyalists who have since broken with the president. Kent is even reportedly set to appear on Carlson’s show this week.

It’s unlikely, though, that any of them would consider themselves MAGA at this point.

“Those who disapprove in the GOP? Simply put, they aren’t MAGA,” Enten said.
