According to a new report from CNN, things are just getting more and more awkward when it comes to ex-President Donald Trump, as the bombshell new report claims the now-former guy used a cell phone belonging to a Secret Service agent to call his wife Melania when the news of his alleged Stormy Daniels affair scandal broke back in 2018.
As we’ve already known for some time now, Trump was averse to using official phone lines during his presidential term, as he wasn’t fond of having his calls listened in on — which, of course, is a serious issue in somewhere as secure as the United States White House, but certainly makes sense considering all the shady things he did over the phone (*cough, cough* Ukraine) — and CNN reports that this particular aversion of Trump’s often led him to borrow the “unofficial” phones of his close aides or Secret Service agents.
A source with knowledge on the matter spoke with CNN and said Donald was on the golf course when the news of his alleged affair with the infamous adult film star hit the news like a bomb. The then-president reportedly attempted to call his wife from his own phone, but she didn’t pick up. As the news continued to spread, CNN claims Trump borrowed one of his Secret Service agent’s phones and once again attempted to get in touch with his wife Melania.

The Stormy Daniels scandal was, of course, massive at the time — after Trump was busted for allegedly arranging a $130,000 hush money payment to his former adult film star mistress through his old personal attorney and “fixer” Michael Cohen, in an effort to keep the affair quiet during his campaign and burgeoning presidency. Daniels has since publicly claimed that she and Donald Trump had sex back in 2006, just one year after he married Melania, directly on the heels of Donald and Melania’s only son, Barron Trump.
The bombshell news of Trump’s phone habits with his Secret Service agents hits the news on the heels of a brutal report from the New York Times alleging that Trump’s phone records are currently under the microscope by the January 6th House Select Committee as they’ve discovered numerous gaps in the ex-president’s phone records hailing from his term.
The Times notes that the House Committee hasn’t yet found any evidence “that any official records were tampered with or deleted,” but goes on to specifically note that Trump had a nasty habit of refusing to use the official phone lines and instead relying on the devices of those in his circle that weren’t as closely monitored.
To be quite frank, I have a feeling this is just the beginning of a long line of bombshells if the January 6th panel keeps digging. Trump better brace himself.
