A UFC spokesperson later confirmed that the event will happen. Trump’s aide Karoline Leavitt told reporters he was “dead serious.”

Trump made the announcement while celebrating the passage of his “big beautiful bill,” which is expected to add more than $3 trillion to the national debt. But the focus of his speech was not the economy. He was more excited about his big party plans.

He said there will be many events next year, both professional and amateur, and that the UFC fight will be one of the main shows.

Many people online reacted with disbelief.

“This shit is like a really bad SNL skit that’s run too long,” one person posted.

“This country is an embarrassment,” another wrote. “we just increased national debt by trillions now the White House is sponsored by UFC.”

Many compared it to the movie Idiocracy, saying this is what that film warned us about.

Others joked the White House is becoming a circus. “Give them bread and circuses, and they will never revolt,” one person said.

Some said the whole thing feels like ancient Rome. Back then, leaders gave people big violent shows to distract them from the real problems.

And now people are even joking about who should fight. One post joked, “Between Him & Elon Musk? Asking for a friend.”

Trump is close friends with UFC boss Dana White. The two have supported each other for years. White has appeared at Trump’s rallies, praised him in speeches, and even stood beside him on stage during big campaign events.
