People Mock Trump’s Physique After Hegseth’s Demand For No ‘Fat’ Generals

Not a good example

Speaking in Virginia on Tuesday, Hegseth told U.S. commanders he was tired of seeing “fat troops” and especially “fat generals and admirals” in the Pentagon. He called it “completely unacceptable” and said it was “a bad look.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom seized on the remarks. He reposted a clip of Hegseth’s speech on X alongside a photo of Trump removing his jacket inside a McDonald’s, captioning it simply: “I guess the Commander in Chief needs to go!”

Newsom’s team pushed the message further, sharing an AI-generated image of Trump eating McDonald’s. Its caption read: “IT’S COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE TO SEE A FAT COMMANDER IN CHIEF IN THE HALLS OF THE WHITE HOUSE!”

The trolling blew up online, with people saying Trump should take Hegseth’s advice and jokingly calling him ‘Commander in Cheese.’

For Trump, the timing was not ideal. He had just held a rare in-person summit with military leaders from around the world. At Quantico, his administration rolled out strict new rules on fitness.

Hegseth said all service members must now meet height and weight standards and pass a physical test twice a year. “Whether you’re an airborne Ranger or a chairborne Ranger, a brand new private or a four-star general, you need to meet the height and weight standards and pass the PT tests,” he said.

He added that those in combat jobs should meet the “highest male standard.” Hegseth then went further. He announced that long hair and beards would no longer be allowed in the military. “No more beardos,” he said. “The era of rampant and ridiculous shaving profiles is done.”
