After spending weeks boasting about being a favorite for the Nobel Peace Prize, Trump was instead honored by the Richard Nixon Foundation with the Architect of Peace Award.
The Foundation said the Architect of Peace Award honors individuals who “embody his lifelong goal of shaping a more peaceful world.”
During the ceremony, the White House shared a short video of Donald Trump smiling as he accepted the gold trophy featuring Richard Nixon’s image.

The sight of Trump receiving an award from a foundation tied to Richard Nixon, who resigned after the Watergate scandal, felt surreal to many.
So he got the TEMU Nobel Peace Prize?

I’m not sure one should be proud to receive an award named after Nixon.

There’s a level of irony here that both amuses me and disgusts me.

Richard Nixon was the only US president in history to resign from office because of a scandal. Hopefully, history will repeat itself.

A Nixon Award seems ironically appropriate

The Nixon Foundation defended its choice, saying the award recognizes leaders who “advance the cause of peace through strength.”
Ambassador Robert C. O’Brien, who served as Trump’s national security adviser, praised him saying, “President Trump’s America First foreign policy is rooted in robust personal diplomacy combined with a peace through strength philosophy. The results have been simply incredible in the number of ceasefires and peace deals that he has achieved around the world.”
Previous recipients of the same award include Henry Kissinger, Dick Cheney, and Donald Rumsfeld, all remembered for foreign policies that drew global criticism.
