President Donald Trump got an earful from the crowd on Sunday when he joined FIFA President Gianni Infantino at the FIFA Club World Cup final.

The game ended with Chelsea crushing Paris Saint-Germain, 3–0, at MetLife Stadium. But the real drama came after the final whistle, when Trump walked onto the pitch for the awards ceremony and was met with loud boos from the crowd.

The President and First Lady left their suite at 5:27 p.m. ET, according to the White House pool report. Fifteen minutes later, Trump and Infantino appeared on the jumbotron, and the boos grew louder. Some fans clapped and cheered, but stadium music quickly drowned out most of the noise.

Trump walked behind Infantino to hand out awards. He shook hands with players and coaches, even giving some a quick pat on the back. He gave PSG’s Désiré Doué the Young Player of the Tournament award, and handed Chelsea’s Robert Sánchez the Golden Glove for best goalkeeper. Cole Palmer received the Golden Ball after scoring 2 goals for Chelsea.

Trump also gave medals to the referees. But when he posed with them for photos, the crowd booed even louder. Infantino stood next to him, smiling awkwardly.

After the ceremony, Trump gave a short interview to DAZN. When asked about the greatest soccer player of all time, Trump looked back at his youth.

“Many years ago when I was young, they brought a player named Pelé to play, and he played for a team called the Cosmos,” he said. “… and this place was packed. It was an earlier version of this stadium, but right here in the Meadowlands, and it was Pelé. I don’t want to date myself, but that was a long time ago. I was a young guy, and I came to watch Pelé and he was fantastic.”

But it wasn’t just the crowd that noticed Trump’s appearance. Twitter was full of people commenting on his legs, with many pointing out swelling, awkward posture, and possible medical concerns.

User @riotwomennn wrote, “Trump has severe cankles or is he wearing double urine bags down both legs? Braces?”

Another user, @Frannymae76, added, “Looks like he’s got some serious fluid back up. He’s gonna die drowning in fluid.”

Others mentioned water retention, obesity, and possible lymphedema.
