President Macron Interrupts Trump During Presser, Fact-Checks Him In Real-Time

We all know Donald Trump lies. It’s as natural as breathing for him. If his mouth is open, he’s almost certainly telling an untruth. French President Emanuel Macron is aware of this. But unlike many people who are too afraid to cross Trump, Macron stops him mid-lie to tell it like it is.

The two men were seated in front of journalists at the White House when Trump loudly insisted Europe was lending money to Ukraine.

“Just so you understand: Europe is loaning money to Ukraine. They get their money back,” Trump said. Then Macron jumps in, gently placing a hand on Trump’s arm to stop him mid-sentence.

“No, in fact to be frank, we paid 60 percent of the total effort. It was like the  US: loans, guarantees, grants.”

Trump’s expression changes from a disdainful smirk to an embarrassed smirk. He’s already orange but his cheeks flush a deeper orange. It’s nearly impossible to embarrass Trump. He usually just plows right on with the rest of his outright lies, secure in the knowledge that no one will stop him.

But in a post from Really American, we can watch Macron in action:

“BREAKING: In an incredible moment in front of the world, President Macron brutally interrupted a Trump lie, fearlessly fact checking him in real time.”

“Watch Trump’s embarrassed expression. This is how it’s done.”

What’s that phrase we use when someone odious gets their behind handed to them? Oh yeah, “Like a boss!” Well, that definitely fits here. Macron wasn’t having any of Trump’s nonsense.

Social media users had a blast roasting Trump and it was beautiful.

BrooklynDad_Defiant hollered:

“BEST CLIP OF THE YEAR!!!!”

“I love it when trump is embarrassed …” quipped Impeach Trump a 3rd Time!

Others were quick to notice that Trump looked like a fool.

“See that sheepish look on his face; it’s one of embarrassment.”

Watch for a nasty Macron tweet later.”

Richard Angwin congratulated Macron for telling it like it is.

“Macron just exposed Trump’s reckless Ukraine claims with sharp, real-time fact-checking—proof of a leader grounded in truth versus Trump’s embarrassing bluster. Bravo, Macron, for standing firm.”

Macron contradicted Trump’s lie. The war in Ukraine has taken a perilous turn now that the president is throwing support to Russian President Vladimir Putin. This guarantees more Ukrainian lives will be lost. Statista estimates nearly 13,000 Ukrainians have died–children make up 669 of the fatalities. However, estimates vary widely, with congress.gov noting heavy casualties on both sides.

“Russia’s military casualties, the officials said, are approaching 300,000. The number includes as many as 120,000 deaths and 170,000 to 180,000 injured troops. The Russian numbers dwarf the Ukrainian figures, which the officials put at close to 70,000 killed and 100,000 to 120,000 wounded.
But Russians outnumber Ukrainians on the battlefield almost three to one, and Russia has a larger population from which to replenish its ranks.”

Those numbers will swell now that Trump, who has foolishly promised to end the war in a day, is throwing his support to Putin. He’s also trying to extort Ukraine for mineral rights, Al-Jazeera reports.

“I told [Ukraine] that I want the equivalent of, like, $500bn worth of rare earth, and they’ve essentially agreed to do that,” the president told Fox reporter Bret Baier.

So it’s no wonder Trump is doing this. He thinks there’s something in it for him. This is a man who never acts unless he stands to gain from it. Greenland is also rich in minerals, and that’s almost certainly why he wanted to wrap the country in his clutches.

He stands to gain. Russia stands to gain. Ukraine stands to lose.
