Being loyal to Trump is a risky move.

Rudy Giuliani, once referred to as “America’s Mayor,” has now been officially disbarred in Washington, D.C. This decision comes after years of controversy and a long list of false claims he made about the 2020 election. Giuliani was already suspended from practicing law, but now the court has made his disbarment official.

Kyle Cheney, a reporter for Politico, tweeted about Giuliani’s disbarment: “JUST IN: Rudy Giuliani has been officially disbarred in Washington, D.C. He had been suspended since his disciplinary proceedings last year.”

This shows that the legal community is taking a stand against dishonesty. Giuliani’s disbarment is a reminder that lawyers are held to high standards and cannot simply lie to support a narrative. The court order stated,

“It is ORDERED that Rudolph W. Giuliani is hereby disbarred from the practice of law in the District of Columbia, nunc pro tunc to August 9, 2021.”

This means his disbarment is effective from a previous date when he was already under suspension. The court also highlighted that Giuliani had not filed a response to their inquiries, which contributed to the decision.

Giuliani worked as a legal advisor for Trump during the 2020 election. He claimed that the election was stolen from Trump due to widespread voter fraud. One of his most outrageous claims was that thousands of dead people voted in Pennsylvania, including the late boxing champion Joe Frazier. The court found these claims to be “false and dishonest.” Giuliani was not just making casual statements; he was trying to change the outcome of a free and fair election.

His actions have real consequences. The lies he spread added fuel to the fire for many who believed in the idea that the election was rigged. This kind of misinformation poses a threat to democracy itself. The court’s decision to disbar him sends a clear message: lying in order to undermine democratic processes will not be tolerated.

Trump and his supporters have faced consequences for spreading false information before. In May, Giuliani lost his radio show because he refused to stop claiming the 2020 election was stolen. This is just one example of how Trump’s lies have hurt those around him. Trump himself has a long history of making false claims. For example, he famously pushed the “birther” conspiracy, insisting that President Obama was not born in the U.S. These lies have been used to divide the country and manipulate the opinions of many Americans.

Rudy’s situation is a key moment to see the mess caused by Trump and his followers. His false claims about the 2020 election didn’t just cost him his job; they also put American democracy in a tough spot. So, is loyalty to Trump worth the price? And when will people learn that dishonesty usually ends in a mess? While Trump has stirred up a lot of trouble, we can still hope that the truth will shine through and that justice will catch up with those who mislead the public.
