According to new revelations, former personal Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani was absolutely desperate for the high-ranking gig of Donald’s Secretary of State, but the now-former president snubbed the ex-mayor of New York’s pleas due to a slew of issues with Giuliani, including his alleged severe drinking problem.

Just recently, we covered an excerpt of journalist Andrew Kirtzman’s bombshell upcoming book, Giuliani: The Rise and Tragic Fall of America’s Mayorpublished by The Guardian, telling of the former New York City mayor’s alleged severe bout of alcoholism, following his humiliating loss in the 2008 presidential primary election. Kirtzman’s book contained revelations from Rudy’s third wife, Judith Giuliani, who told the author that her now-former husband plunged into a deep, “clinical depression” after only managing to secure one single delegate in the primary election. Following the humiliating, public loss, Rudy’s former spouse says the ex-Trump attorney “started to drink more heavily.”

Ultimately, Judith claimed that her then-husband, a drunken and depressed Rudy, ended up wandering the secret passages and rooms located underneath Trump’s Mar-a-Lago country club as he recovered from his drinking problem and mental troubles while living with his then-wife in a bungalow that was located across South Ocean Boulevard from Trump’s private estate.

Kirtman did note, “[Judith Giuliani] was known to exaggerate, and the depth of his depression [during his secret spell at Mar-a-Lago] is something that only she and Giuliani knew for certain.”

However, that doesn’t mean the bombshell secrets aren’t still rolling in deep, as the journalist continues to promote his upcoming tell-all.

Kirtzman, who spent years covering Rudy Giuliani as a political reporter in New York, recently appeared on The Daily Beast’s podcast, The New Abnormal, where he dished out another heaping helping of the former personal Trump attorney’s dirty laundry, as he discussed his forthcoming book with the hosts of the show.

Speaking on the relationship between Rudy Giuliani and Donald Trump, the journalist said, “there was this kind of need that they both seemed to feel to impress the other. And I think that that still exists to this day.”

They moved onto the topic of Rudy’s extended stay at Mar-a-Lago with Molly Jong-Fast on The New Abnormal, Kirtzman said, “It was there that Giuliani kind of was allowed to get back on his feet and rejoin the world. As [Judith] tells the story, he developed an alcohol problem, he was constantly falling down, and was kind of a mess that she had to help.”

The journalist noted that Rudy’s “drinking problem” became a point of contention yet again, when Trump ultimately shot down Giuliani’s desperate pleas to serve as his secretary of state, despite the fact that Donald had allegedly promised Rudy the gig during his campaign.

“That was the only job Giuliani wanted,” the author revealed. “He was offered attorney general, he turned it down. He was offered Homeland Security, he turned it down. He fashioned himself after his god-like perception as this statesman, even though he didn’t have 5 minutes experience with foreign policy.”

However, Trump “started just hearing all of these negative stories about him, about his drinking.”

“Giuliani waged this campaign in the press to get the job, which turned Trump off,” Kirtzman went on to explain. “They launched an investigation internally in the campaign into Giuliani’s clients, and he had so many clients with potential conflicts that had filled a report, dozens of pages, and eventually Trump moved on.”

Ultimately, the job of secretary of state in the Trump administration was given to Rex Tillerson, but he only lasted just a little over a year before he was fired by number 45.

Of course, this is far from the first time that the topic of Rudy’s alleged drinking habits has gained some mainstream attention, as former Trump campaign senior adviser Jason Miller recently testified before the January 6th House Select Committee that Giuliani was drunk inside the White House on the night that he prodded Donald Trump to claim the 2020 election victory that was not rightfully his, making it all the more humiliating when 45 went on to lose to Joe Biden.
