Even a Republican-leaning poll has bad news for the president.

For most of the last year, Donald Trump has had terrible approval ratings, with his numbers consistently underwater in the RealClearPolling average ever since last April. Throughout, Trump has claimed that his approval ratings are actually great, sometimes going so far as to threaten to sue pollsters who give him bad marks. Occasionally assisting him in that fiction have been a few traditionally Republican-leaning polls.

But now, one of those has bad news for the president.

According to The Daily Beast, Rasmussen Reports has “confirmed the unthinkable on Tuesday: Former President Joe Biden did a better job than his successor is managing.” Rasmussen reported that 48 percent of respondents think that Biden did a better job than Trump.

“Most voters don’t think America is living in the ‘Golden Age’ that President Donald Trump promised in his inaugural address, and nearly half say he’s doing a worse job than his predecessor,” Rasmussen said in its description of the research.
“By raising prices, killing jobs, and lowering economic growth, Trump broke the top promises he made to voters and failed the tests he set for Biden,” Andrew Bates, a former spokesman for Biden during his presidency, told the Beast. Biden, Bates added, “publicly warned Trump not to raise tariffs, add trillions to the debt in tax breaks for the rich, or make the biggest health care and clean energy cuts in history.”
Mark Mitchell, Rasmussen’s pollster, shared his findings on X, even using edgelord language while doing so:

Mitchell saying so didn’t make much of his audience happy.

As for the RealClearPolling average, it currently shows Trump with an average approval rating of -13.1, which is not the worst of his presidency but still in the negative double-digits. Of the polls listed in the average, only one, InsiderAdvantage, lists Trump in positive territory, and that’s just at +1.

NBC News Decision Desk has him at -22, with every other poll listed having him at least -1.
