SNL Dropped A Savage Sketch Mocking Trump’s Iran War Announcement

This weekend, SNL went all out, mocking Donald Trump over his unexpected military action in Iran.

The sketch opened with James Austin Johnson as Trump and Colin Jost as Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth at a fake press conference, pretending to explain the early morning U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran. From the start, it was clear the show had no mercy.

“I launched this attack after me and my Board of Peace decided we were bored of peace,” Johnson’s Trump said, mocking the committee of world leaders the real Trump claimed to have formed. Laughter erupted.

The punchlines kept piling up. “Iran has been two weeks away from a nuclear weapon for like 15 years or something, so we had to act now,” Johnson’s Trump added. “War, what is it good for? Distracting from the Epstein files!” Every line hit hard, showing how absurd the timing and reasoning appeared.

The sketch quickly pointed out the contradictions. Campaign promises to end forever wars collided with a sudden, large-scale strike.

“A year ago on the campaign trail I promised no new foreign wars,” Johnson’s Trump said. “But listen, wars plural, right? I’m allowed one. Maybe one foreign war. And possibly one civil…” The absurdity landed with a sting.

Jost’s Hegseth ran in with an energy drink, claiming it wasn’t alcoholic. “They asked for someone to volunteer to oversee this half-baked operation, and I didn’t walk. I ran,” he said.
