It seems now that Donald Trump is getting sketchy close to becoming a bonafide felon himself, the scandal-plagued former president is looking to surround himself with his own kind — as new reporting from the Washington Post confirms that Trump is looking to add a convicted felon to his 2024 reelection campaign team.
A total of four inside sources have spoken with the Washington Post and confirmed that the former president and 2024 Republican presidential frontrunner is in talks about enlisting his disgraced former campaign manager Paul Manafort in a reelection campaign role centered around the upcoming Republican convention in Milwaukee.
Manafort was infamously tried and convicted on felony charges related to tax and bank fraud, only to later be pardoned by his former boss Donald Trump.
The former Trump campaign manager was busted for his crimes as part of now-former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s infamous Russia election interference investigation into Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. Manafort was ultimately found guilty of several felony charges and served jail time after the Mueller Probe discovered that Trump’s right-hand guy had shared internal polling data with his longtime associate, Konstantin Kilimnik — who was formally determined to have ties to the Kremlin.

A bipartisan Senate committee took on an investigation into the findings of Mueller’s probe and determined that Manafort’s openness to Russian assistance and interference posed a “grave counterintelligence threat” that left Trump’s campaign vulnerable to “malign” foreign influence.
“Manafort’s presence on the Campaign and proximity to Trump created opportunities for Russian intelligence services to exert influence over, and acquire confidential information on, the Trump Campaign,” the Senate investigation determined.
The Post noted that Trump feels a sense of loyalty to Manafort after his former campaign manager served prison time for hiding millions upon millions made while lobbying for pro-Russian politicians in Ukraine and then lying about those funds to procure loans. Sources told the newspaper that Donald Trump, still to this day, often goes on tirades over the Mueller investigation.
Manafort joined Trump’s presidential campaign in the Summer of 2016 with an agreement that he would work for no salary but was terminated in August when Trump allegedly “blew a gasket” upon learning that Manafort’s firm had failed to properly disclose its foreign lobbying.
The Mueller Probe discovered that Paul Manafort had “no meaningful income” when he joined the 2016 Trump campaign, yet owned multiple luxury properties and regularly dropped loads of cash on luxury cars, furnishings, and clothing. The investigation quickly determined that Manafort had intended to find outside ways to monetize his involvement in the Trump campaign.
