Last month, the name of White House aide Natalie Harp was everywhere, with various commentators and one U.S. senator noting that the aide was nearly always by the president’s side. There was also a lot of speculation about what the First Lady thinks about her frequent presence around the president, especially at a time when Melania has been away from the White House much of the time.
Now, one Substacker has a counterintuitive take on Melania and Natalie.
Rob Shuter, whose Substack is called Naughty But Nice, quoted insiders this week as stating that the First Lady isn’t upset about the president’s aide- she’s “relieved.”

“Melania isn’t jealous of Natalie — she’s grateful for her,” Shuter quoted one “Trumpworld insider” as saying. “Donald demands constant attention, and Natalie genuinely seems to enjoy giving it to him. For Melania, that takes an enormous amount of pressure off.”
Another source had more.
“Natalie wants to be there for every meeting, every trip, every moment. Melania doesn’t,” another of the newsletter’s sources said. “They want entirely different relationships with Donald, and that’s exactly why this works.”
As did another insider.
Melania’s “negotiated and choreographed” appearances with her husband would only occur if Trump’s blonde companion wasn’t around, the president’s biographer claims.https://t.co/BHVr59ADBJ pic.twitter.com/He5WhmoJOq

“Melania hates becoming part of somebody else’s gossip, but she absolutely doesn’t want Natalie gone,” another source told the Substack newsletter. “Why would she? Natalie handles the exhausting, around-the-clock Donald duty Melania has spent years avoiding.”
Not all recent reporting has agreed with those conclusions, however.
The Daily Beast reported last month, citing Trump biographer Michael Wolff, that the First Lady is “locked in a secret power struggle with Donald Trump’s 35-year-old assistant,” referring to Harp.
