According to new reporting from The Hill, based on information from inside sources, President Joe Biden has already told former POTUS Barack Obama, who Biden served under as Vice President for eight years, that he fully intends to run for president of the United States again in 2024, as he feels he is the only one who can be a returning Donald Trump.
While this isn’t the first time that President Biden has indicated that he will likely give the presidency another shot when he’s up for a second term in 2024, it is further confirmation that Biden will run again, and certainly the most solid indication thus far.
Biden told reporters during a press conference in Brussels last month that he would be “very fortunate” to run against former President Donald Trump again in the 2024 presidential election.
Two sources with knowledge of the conversation between Biden and Obama spoke with The Hill regarding the president’s remarks, with one stating, “[Biden] wants to run and he’s clearly letting everyone know.”

“I believe he thinks he’s the only one who can beat Trump. I don’t think he thinks there’s anyone in the Democratic party who can beat Trump and that’s the biggest factor,” the inside source who’s familiar with the conversation told the publication.
Reports indicated that President Biden and the former POTUS he once served under had lunch together last month, but it remains unclear when, exactly, the conversation regarding a potential 2024 presidential run was discussed.
The Biden White House did not provide comments to The Hill with regard to the alleged Obama/Biden conversation, and instead one advisor to the president pointed to Joe’s previous public comments that he does intend to run again in the next election.
