In a humorous moment that went viral on Sunday, as President Donald Trump was standing in front of the victorious Spanish World Cup team while they celebrated, an Australian broadcaster could be heard saying, “They’re gonna edit him out,” on that country’s feed of the celebration.
Now, there are indications that just that has happened.
A photo released on the X account of the Spanish Men’s National Football Team shows them celebrating, with no Trump in sight.

The Daily Telegraph, meanwhile, reported that Trump had been “cropped out” of the championship photo by FIFA.

“The Manchester City midfielder waited to lift the trophy and was trying to usher Trump out of the way before turning around to celebrate with his team-mates, despite the president remaining stood in full view at the front of the stage,” the Telegraph said. “But the official Fifa account on X posted a celebratory image, from which they had appeared to crop Trump out of shot.”
The word “crop” indicates that Trump was not edited out with Photoshop or AI, but rather that the published photo was zoomed in to avoid including him. It appears that different accounts posted different photos, but that both FIFA and the Spanish national team published versions that did not include the president.
Social media users noticed that Trump was not in the photo released by the Spanish team:
