In his rant, Trump called Josh Shapiro, who doesn’t influence U.S. foreign policy, a “highly overrated Jewish Governor.” This was a really harsh comment. Trump was upset because Shapiro didn’t agree with Trump’s claim that he was “the best friend Israel and the Jewish people ever had.”
It’s shocking that the former president, who loves drama, didn’t put more effort into his argument. Instead, Trump’s attack on Shapiro was petty and seemed like an attempt to rewrite history, claiming he did more for Israel than anyone else. It’s as if he forgot his time in office had more problems than successes in handling Middle Eastern issues. To add to the absurdity, Trump claimed Vice President Kamala Harris “hates Israel” and “wants it to fail.” This is from the same person who messed up many foreign policy issues, like dealing with COVID-19 and withdrawing from Afghanistan.

Critics quickly called out Trump’s post for being full of antisemitism, and they were right to do so. It’s clear that Trump’s remarks seem to come from a place of prejudice, attacking Shapiro not just for his policies but for who he is. On Twitter, reactions were fast and harsh. Alex Cole highlighted the racism in Trump’s comments, tweeting: “’The Highly overrated Jewish Governor’ Wow! That’s pretty racist. Trump thinks Jewish people only care about Israel, he doesn’t see them as Americans who care about healthcare, pro-choice, gun control, etc.”
Republicans Against Trump added:
“Trump calls Governor Josh Shapiro: ‘Highly overrated Jewish governor.’ This is not normal.”
Nurit Baytch criticized Trump for his hypocrisy:
“After purporting to fight antisemitism by claiming Josh Shapiro was snubbed by Kamala for being Jewish, Trump now refers to Shapiro as ‘the highly overrated Jewish governor’.”
Jeremy Louis reflected on Trump’s incoherence:
“There is an intelligent way to discuss things decisions made from the Trump era like moving the embassy to Jerusalem and the Abraham Accords. Instead we get this nonsense and phrases like ‘highly overrated Jewish governor.’ He can’t even talk about his own legacy coherently.”
The GOP, which has been having problems with its former leader, now faces a new challenge about sticking to good values and being inclusive. As Trump keeps making wild and offensive comments, it’s clear he just wants attention, not real policy change. In American politics, his latest outburst is just another example of his outdated and rude behavior.
