There are a lot of bad things that can be said about the state of the world we currently live in. The price of gas and groceries are bordering on unlivable, the COVID-19 pandemic is still alive, well, and claiming lives too soon each and every day, American politics are absolutely embarrassing, to put it lightly, the top Republican contender is facing 91 different indictments, billionaires are fighting about who’s going to space first instead of using that money to pay their fair share in taxes while people starve and die in the streets, and war is striking all around the globe — and that’s truly just the tip of the iceberg.
People have a lot to complain about in this life, and rightfully so. Times are hard and it feels like they’re only getting harder. But every once in a while, this old life still gives us something to smile about whenever we need it most.
A clip posted to X (formerly known as Twitter) by the Historic Vids account has gone viral for good reasons, for once.
The video itself, while posted to social media today, is undated, leaving us unable to verify when exactly it came from, but it certainly made us smile nonetheless, as we see a little elderly woman speaking to a reporter, standing on piles of rubble and destroyed lives, in the wake of a devastating tornado.

She talks to the reporter about her beloved dog, who she was unable to find after the catastrophic natural disaster hit her home.
Hearing her say, “I hollered for my little dog, he didn’t answer. So, I know he’s in here somewhere,” as she points to the piles of rubble is enough to break your heart.
But for once, someone got the happy ending they truly deserve, as what appears to be a member of the news crew suddenly shouts, “A dog! A dog!”
Lo and behold, they found the elderly lady’s dog alive and well, buried under the rubble left behind by the disaster.
The rest of the clip shows neighbors and crew members helping to dig the puppy out of the pile and reunite it with its owner.

Some days, more often than not, it is truly hard to find anything that’s worth a smile. Lucky for us, and this little lady and her dog, the universe was kind to us all this time.
