If Rep. Jamie Raskin is correct in his assessment, Donald Trump’s days as a free man are severely numbered, as the Democratic House Rep. confirmed that it is “almost inevitable” that the scandal-ridden, disgraced former president will be slammed with an indictment over his involvement in the deadly January 6th Capitol insurrection.
Raskin’s claim came during a recent interview with Jordan Rubin, published by MSNBC, in which the former high-ranking member of the now-disbanded January 6th House Select Committee gave his thoughts on what is to come for the disgraced, one-term, twice-impeached former president, now that the J6 Committee has completed their long-running investigation, and sent multiple criminal referrals to the DOJ against Donald Trump and many of his key allies.
“It’s almost inevitable that there will be charges, because the evidence is just so overwhelming,” Raskin said in the new interview. “Interference with a federal proceeding — in this case, the joint session of Congress, counting Electoral College votes — was not only the crime, but it was the whole point of ‘Stop the Steal.’ That was Donald Trump’s complete and obvious and naked intent to get people to go in and interfere with the counting of votes and to stop it, delay it, postpone it by any means necessary. So that just seems completely straightforward. And that’s just one of the referrals.”
“We think there will be charges probably on some things we didn’t even have, because we don’t have all of the prosecutorial resources that the Department of Justice has, and so we think they probably collected a lot more evidence than we got,” the former Committee member went on to add.

As it stands, Biden Attorney General Merrick Garland has appointed Special Counsel Jack Smith to thoroughly investigate the ex-president’s role in not only the infamous January 6th Capitol attack, but also Trump’s plot to overthrow the results of the 2020 presidential election — a move that has severed to throw Trump into seemingly neverending fits of panic, fury, and despair as the walls close in on him. Smith, a former war crimes prosecutor, is also investigating Donald Trump’s stolen Mar-a-Lago document scandal on behalf of the DOJ.
But the looming federal charges hanging over Trump’s head certainly aren’t his only concern, as he also faces state-level charges from the likes of Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis, who is currently also conducting a wide-reaching investigation into the former president’s efforts to overthrow the results of the 2020 presidential election in the state of Georgia, through his infamous alleged call to the Secretary of State, demanding that they “find the votes” he needed to overthrow Joe Biden’s win.
In addition, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has recently made moves to escalate his own investigation into Trump’s infamous Stormy Daniels hush money scandal.
“He’s facing lots of other criminal charges and civil charges around the country,” Raskin said. “He’s basically a one-man crime wave. And so he might get his comeuppance in some other jurisdictions first, I don’t know about that. But ultimately, we have to believe that the justice system is going to work.”
