Less than 48 hours after he was the target of a bona fide assassination attempt, scandal-plagued former President and presumptive Republican 2024 nominee Donald Trump publicly announced his pick for his vice president running mate on the upcoming presidential election ticket.
Trump made the official announcement on his Truth Social platform, confirming that he has chosen controversial Ohio Republican Senator J.D. Vance as his running mate, just moments after video footage showed Vance leaving his Ohio home with an extensive motorcade, en route to the Republican National Convention, giving Americans a good guess at what was soon to come.
In his Truth Social post, Trump wrote:
After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio. J.D. honorably served our Country in the Marine Corps, graduated from Ohio State University in two years, Summa Cum Laude, and is a Yale Law School Graduate, where he was Editor of The Yale Law Journal, and President of the Yale Law Veterans Association. J.D.’s book, “Hillbilly Elegy,” became a Major Best Seller and Movie, as it championed the hardworking men and women of our Country. J.D. has had a very successful business career in Technology and Finance, and now, during the Campaign, will be strongly focused on the people he fought so brilliantly for, the American Workers and Farmers in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, and far beyond….”

We’re sure that Vance is truly over the moon with this big news. However, this seems like a good time to remind Americans that J.D. Vance was not always a big fan of Donald Trump.
Quite the opposite, in fact, according to Vance’s former college roommate who says the Ohio lawmaker and now vice presidential candidate once compared Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler.
Josh McLaurin, who now serves as a Democratic senator in the state of Georgia, sat for an interview earlier this month, just days before Vance’s VP nomination would be announced, and warned that his old college roommate would possibly be the “most dangerous” person Donald Trump could choose as a running mate because Vance will be the first to double down and feed Donald’s already unhinged vitriol, hatred, and revenge campaign.
Back in 2022, when Vance was running for Senate in Ohio, McLaurin shared a screenshot on social media that, according to him, hailed from a 2016 text conversation between the two, in which Vance said he went “back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical asshole like Nixon who wouldn’t be that bad (and might even prove useful) or that he’s America’s Hitler.”
“I never could have dreamed during those exchanges in 2016 that he would end up being one of the principal reinforcers of Trumpism only a few years later,” McLaurin said.
Let this serve as a reminder that there is no true loyalty within the MAGA movement…
