Apparently, Marjorie Taylor Greene learned the hard way that she isn’t nearly as popular as she thinks she is.
On the final day of the Republican National Convention — the same day that their beloved Dear Leader Donald Trump delivered his big nominee acceptance speech — the controversial far-Right Georgia House Rep. decided to schedule a book signing event simply titled “MTG,” a few hours before the big Trump finale, in what we’re sure was an effort to try to leech off the ex-president’s popularity at the RNC.
Spoiler Alert: It didn’t work.
In fact, the turnout was so humiliatingly underwhelming, Marjorie ended up hiding out in a nearby room as a volunteer tried to bait passersby with free copies of Greene’s opus.

Salon’s Amanda Marcotte reported on the embarrassing flop of an event and highlighted the fact that the dismal turnout to something as simple and straightforward as a book signing at the country’s biggest far-Right event is a clear-cut sign of Greene’s waning popularity among the MAGA crowd.
“The once-soaring MAGA star was facing down a painfully small crowd at the signing of her book ‘MTG.’ Just before the trollish congresswoman was scheduled to arrive, a group of red-clad workers busied themselves with building big stacks of Greene’s hardcover, published in November 2023. But only a few American flag-festooned folks had lined up,” Marcotte reported.
She went on to report that the congresswoman finally showed her face to her own event, only to find a downright pathetic “line” awaiting her: “When she finally rolled in at 3 PM, Greene took one look at the underwhelming crowd, muttered something to her entourage and then quickly hid in a nearby room.”
Marcotte said it only went downhill from there.
“Eventually, some attendees did swing by, curious about what had drawn the press,” the Salon reporter wrote. “This added enough people to pull Greene out of hiding. Still, as we left, we spied a volunteer in a red shirt, offering people free copies as bait to draw them to Greene’s table.”
Marcotte noted that the signs were already there for Marge, as she was “shunted” to an RNC speaking spot on Monday, “the holding dock for the figures the party least wished to highlight.”
To make matters worse for Marjorie, the Daily Beast released a report earlier this year, noting that it is entirely possible that the Georgia congresswoman hasn’t actually made a single red cent off of her book, considering Greene had yet to report any royalty income from it.
The Beast’s Mini Racker reported at the time: “It is certainly possible that Greene’s memoir didn’t sell well enough to make money last year. Members of Congress are prohibited from receiving advances on royalties, so they have to depend on profits from copies sold. Greene’s book came out in late November and has only a handful of reviews on Amazon dated before the new year.”
